Season of Creation 2024

“Season of Creation” is the annual Christian celebration to pray and respond together to the cry of Creation: the ecumenical family around the world unites to listen and care for our common home.

Season of Creation: September 1 ~ October 4
        - September 1: the World day of Prayer for the care of Creation
        - October 4: the Feast of St. Francisco of Assisi (Patron Saint of Ecology)

Theme: “To Hope and Act with Creation.”
Symbol: the  Firstfruits of  hope

Suggested Action Plan – SoC 2024

- Begin by celebrating the “Feast of Creation” of September 1 on Sunday
- Host an ecumenical prayer service
- Hold your worship service in the sacred “Cathedral of Creation” outside
- Organize a creation walk or pilgrimage
- Coordinate local education and sustainability activities
- Incorporate the symbol of the firstfruits of hope in your events
- Share our experience: SNS
- Advocacy: Participate in campaigns to reduce fossil fuel use
This year we have a specific day to focus on the ecumenical common call to action on advocacy. It will be a day of action to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT).
The 79th Session of the UN General Assembly will be taking place from 10 - 24 September and it is within this context that we Christians, as a global family, will raise our voices and show how faith communities can be powerful actors for justice and hope across the world.
