Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing
OUR CHARISM
Our Charism holds three treasures:
· Monastic Life of Prayer and Community
· Mission to bring Christ to the World
· Call to Embrace Diversity (XIII General Chapter Message)
One of the manifold gifts of the Holy Spirit on the Church is the vocation to Missionary Benedictine religious life, which is a particular way of living the Gospel and is rooted in the Rule of St. Benedict.
Through religious profession we commit ourselves before God and his Church to follow Christ in religious community (conversatio morum), to obedience (oboedientia) and to stability to our Congregation (stabilitas), being thus more deeply united with the mission of the Church. Our whole life is oriented to the service and glory of God.

Reichenbach 1899
The men's community was started in Reichenbach, but in 1887 because of several problems it moved to St. Ottilien Abbey in Upper Bavaria. Women religious have formed part of the Missionary Benedictine enterprise from 1885. Based first in St. Ottilien the sisters moved 1904 to Tutzing, developed independently and today form the Congregation of the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing.

Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing
In their new Motherhouse in Tutzing dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the sisters continued their life of prayer and work, trusting in their divine Lord.
During the following decades, sisters were sent from this Motherhouse into the whole world.
Today, the Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Tutzing have become an international congregation living according to the Rule and spirit of Saint Benedict and the missionary ideal of Fr. Andreas Amrhein.
In four continents, 16 Countries, 12 Priories, 128 Stations, around 1300 sisters are proclaiming the Gospel by "praying and working" coordinated by the Generalate in Rome.
