M. Gertrud Link

"My Way with God" is the autobiography of Mother Gertrud Link, written by her towards the end of a long life, much of which she spent at the helm of our congregation. One could say that this life is not only hers, but that it belongs to all of us who call her simply "our Mother Gertrud." And in a certain sense, her life belongs to the entire family of Missionary Benedictine Sisters, whom she served as one of them for over 60 years of her life.

Sr. Bernita Walter

Sr. Bernita Walter, OSB (1920 - 2005) chose the title "Sustained by God's Faithfulness" as the title for the history of our congregation, a title which fits very well also for her own life. A qualified medical Doctor she always felt more inclined for literature. She composed little dramas and stories from early age. As a General Councilor she became involved in the archives of the congregation. During a General Chapter she was given the mandate to write the history of our congregation. With her usual thoroughness and conscientiousness she put herself to the task. In the course of her researches she travelled to South-, Southwest Africa and Tanzania to study there the roots of our congregation's missionary activity. In 1985, just in time for the opening of the Congregation's Centenary Celebration, the first volume of the history, "Sustained by God's Faithfulness - Foundation and First Developments of the Congregation", was published in German. The second volume followed in 1999 with the subtitle "Preparing the Way for the Church in East-Africa." Besides this Sr. Bernita worked for the "Osservatore Romano" as translator and editor in the German section.
Thanks to the work of Sr. Mathilda Handl, OSB the whole 2-volume work of our congregation's history was translated to English and therefore made available for all our English-speaking Sisters, Formandees and all those interested.

Sr. Aquinata Böckmann

Sr. Aquinata Böckmann OSB, a professor emeritus in monastic spirituality of San Anselmo in Rome is known for her commentaries on the Rule of St. Benedict. Presenting a wealth of material, she never loses sight of the christological center of the Rule or the questions involved in living it in our time, both in monasteries and the world. She knows how to combine the tools of a scholar with the love for the Benedictine way of life.

Sr. Mary John Mananzan

Feminism in a stoutly Catholic third world country is the tricky territory that Sister Mary John Mananzan has been navigating for decades.
